About Mrs. Chast
Mrs. Chast was an avid forms competitor in Taekwondo growing up, placing first in many tournaments. Mrs. Chast began training in the martial art of Judo in 1996. She began attending an international Judo camp in 1997 where she had the privilege to train under Sensei Tony Owed. In 2009, Mrs. Chast competed in the USA Judo National Kata Championship and won the women's all around and mixed all around awards. As a result, Mrs. Chast traveled to Valletta, Malta to represent the US in the World Kata Championships that same year. Mrs. Chast and her husband, Mr. Mark Chast, were inducted into the USJA National Hall of Fame in 2009 under the category of Outstanding Kata Competitor.
Mrs. Chast believes in setting high expectations for her students. She is a firm believer that if you expect a lot from students, they will perform to the best of their ability. Mrs. Chast feels incredibly fortunate that she has been able to train in several martial arts. This cross training allows her to bring a unique perspective to Blue Dragon Martial Arts. She specializes in teaching forms and self defense. She believes teaching realistic self defense increases confidence and self-esteem. Mrs. Chast hopes that she can share her love of martial arts with all who enter the door at Blue Dragon. She is excited to maintain a standard of excellence where rank is EARNED, not given.
